GENERAL MEETING MINUTES - SEPTEMBER
Service Officer Report- Hank Papeika reported on the activities of the Service Officer. He informed everyone on all the happenings at the VA Sepulveda Medical Center NHCU. He and Gene made the usual trip to the Center to deliver the usual personal needs of the residents. Hank also mentioned that we have a list of items to pick up for the Hospice wing.
Old Business- There was no outstanding business matters that still needed to be completed.
New Business-No new business matters were brought up.
Good of the Order– It was decided that our Veterans Day Poppy Event will take place on the 6th and 7th of November 2009. It was also discussed about accepting the offer to have a Poppy Table at the Reagan Library on Veterans Day, the 11th of November. It was decided that it would be a great honor for the Post. Bob Harper is coordinating our participation.
The Attendance Pool did not provide a winner yet.
As there was no further business to discuss, the Chaplain gave the closing prayers and the Commander called for the closing of the meeting. He reminded everyone that the next District Meeting will be on the 19th of September in Lompoc. Anyone wanting to attend should make him aware of their intentions.
The next Officers Meeting will be held at the Commander’s home on the 1st and the General Meeting will be held on the 13th of October.
September’s General Meeting was held on the 8th of the month. It was held at the Elk’s Lodge in Thousand Oaks.
Post Commander Carter chaired the meeting and as Chaplain Reekers was out of town, a stand-in Chaplain presided over the opening prayer and discussion of comrades in distress.
After the opening ceremonies and the opening prayer, the Commander asked the Adjutant to read the minutes of the August General Meeting. Gene offered the minutes as they appeared in the newsletter with any corrections or changes if needed. No objections were made and the minutes were accepted as published.
Quartermaster Report-The Quartermaster was then requested to give his report. Bob presented the Quartermaster’s report for the month of August. He discussed all transactions that took place during the month. This encompassed all receipts and expenditures for the month.
Receipts consisted of: Bank interest and VFW membership dues. Expenditures consisted of: Newsletter expenses; VA NHCU personal care items; Annual PO Box fee; Devil Pups donation; VA women veterans lunch donation; Telephone bill and Web site expense. He mentioned that there were several Poppy donations to be received.
